Work on the much-touted $700 million Rum Cay Resort Marina supposedly being developed by Montana Holdings on remote Rum Cay in the southern Bahamas has stalled completely, leaving a gaping hole in the island’s economy, and leading to migration away from home once again for many who had returned in anticipation of work.

Rum Cay developer 'finishing off' finance within three weeks
The developer behind the $700 million Rum Cay Resort Marina said it expected to "finish off our financing rounds in the next three weeks", as makes plans to redevelop the island's Sumner Point Marina and work on the beach lots at its main 817-acre development.

$ 700m developer: We will not be beaten by 'scurrilous attacks'
The $700 million resort developer said that the project's progress has been "severely impeded" by a series of "scurrilous attacks" mounted against it, plus the "confusion" caused by a rival hotel development with a similar name that appears to be claiming land it already owns.

Rum Cay residents concerned all construction work on Montana Holdings project stopped, with all workmen bar two having left island. The developer behind the $700 million Rum Cay Resort Marina project yesterday said it was not pulling out, despite concerns expressed by islanders that all construction work on the development had halted, with most workmen having left the island.

$1.25m home in the Bahamas up for raffle in Dubai
As part of the promotion for the new Rum Cay Resort Marina, Montana Holdings will raffle a $1.25 million ocean-front home in the Bahamas at this year's Oil Baron's Ball in Dubai. As the platinum sponsors for the fifth Oil Barons' Ball, Montana Holdings will showcase their new resort in a special exhibition on the lawns of the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.

Developer acquires Rum Cay marina
The developer behind the $600-$700 million Rum Cay Resort Marina has acquired that island's only existing marina, Sumner Point, for a 'seven-figure' sum, enabling it to target high-end 'super yachts' as well as fishing enthusiasts.
